My 137 boat has never been finished. Put a coat of primer on her and put her in the sun to dry. Well I guess it was too hot out because my plastic deck softened and warped all out of shape. Let it cool and all except one side came back. Today I stripped off the deck and after 3 hrs of sanding got it back down to wood. Cleaned it all out ready for a new plywood deck.

Rick, it is amazing how hot things get in the sun. Was the plywood deck originally epoxied on?

It was a plastic deck and yes it was epoxied on. New deck will be plywood.

Hi Rick ... may I ask what you used to debond the epoxy? I will need to do that to my boat this winter. It has a ply deck though, with a planked layer on top.

Tom. I used a dremel tool and cut away between the ribs near the access hatch. Reach in and you can feel the ribs. Once it's opened up up you gently lift the deck and it surprisingly came off fairly easily then I sanded away the epoxy residue. About 3 hrs work. Mask and glasses job.added some new glueing surfaces(1/4" spruce) resanded and am ready for the new wood deck.

Photos of Your rebuild Rick, and your new build Tom, would be much appreciated.  Not sure how they are added to the site, but if you have problems I will ask Robert to help out.  Bill.

Bill, due to medical stuff I am not building anything for now. If and when I get back to it, the J-Boat is first in line.

No photos of the rebuild. New deck is on , sanded to the hull, hatches cut out, hardware measured out and mounted then removed for sealing with epoxy and wet sanded. Hatch cover also mounted. Hope to finish sand, prime and paint this week. If I feel like it. Lol.
