Good example Scot......

But as always - comments - in this case the line appears to be terrible biased to a port start BUT never forget - ROW (right of way) rules) still apply !

That said a smart sailor MAY choose to stay clear of the starboard boats, go under the fleet  and start on port..... (the port end of the line seems prefered by the wind). Assuming the bias isn't a short lived header, the port tack boat would then be at an advantage and could tack onto starboard blocking the fleet already on starboard. The port boat would then have the advantage of preventing them from tacking and can force them to over stand the lay line!

TACTICS..... :) and following the rules BUT also an example of how local knowldege (and a bit of luck) is so important!

It is pointless just tacking into a foul :( You not only messed up your race but someone elses who will probably never recover ... good way to make friends??? - NOT!

'Sportsmanship' means we accept our errors and don't make others also suffer for our 'mistakes'

Port  starts sometimes have their place - if some of the fleet think to the contrary, repsect them, stay clear and plan your strategy accordingly!
