Per the control dimensions, forestay deck attachments are quoted as 4 3/8 and 5 3/16. Does this mean you are only allowed 2 attachment points, or can you have intermediate points between the 2 dimensions i.e. a drilled bracket. Any input would be welcome. Thanks, Ceri

Three positions are show. ANYTHING that fits within those three positions +/- the 1/4" tolerance allowed would (or SHOULD) be deemed legal by any CRYA measurer who checks the boat. I have four holes drilled in my jib track - ok reality is 90% of the time I only use two dependent on the wind conditions but they came from experience. My boat has been measured by a CRYA measuerer and deemed legal WITH THE JIB SETUP THAT WAY. Don't see any reason any number of positions within the tolerance range would not be acceptable. I have seen boats raced with adjustable jib tracks that can slide between the min/max locations....and never seen them 'banned' from racing Not looking to open a rules debate:) but wil bring my lawyer along and do a Dennis Conners if someone wants to dispute. Limitations to rules will have a 'SHALL' associated with them and nothing says there shall only be three positions. Governing document is a drawing and tolerances. As I noted, once you find the 'correct' balance for the boat, reality is two will be prefered dependant on wind strength. Fine tuning can be done with sheeting angles and other sail trim adjustments. M12's all have character (CG position, sail material, sailing style and 101 other variables) so DON'T ask what's 'Right' it does vary from boat to boat8) Nigel
